ESSFTA Education

Whether you are an AKC judge, an English Springer Spaniel breeder, owner, exhibitor, fancier, or considering adding an English Springer Spaniel to your family, the first step is to learn as much as you can about the English Springer Spaniel breed to support best practices of caring, breeding, exhibiting and judging.

Understanding an English Springer Spaniel is an important part of being a responsible owner. It takes time, patience and training to ensure a puppy will grow up to be a loving companion pet, a show dog, hunter, or a purposeful working dog. The many responsible steps to caring for an English Springer Spaniel include providing a suitable environment, exercise, diet, normal behavior patterns, and protecting and caring for them from pain, suffering, injury and disease. Ownership requires an emotional and financial commitment for the life of the English Springer Spaniel.

By giving you as much information as possible, the English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Association is looking to preserve the well‐being and unique character of the breed and ensure that the English Springer Spaniel will continue to be a viable breed for many years to come.

We encourage you to read our Education pages, talk to breeders, owners and exhibitors to learn all you can about English Springer Spaniels.
