The best way to describe Graham is an honest dog. He will do anything asked of him. He loves to learn and tries very hard to please. If I take a few days off and not train, he’s on the sofa, in my lap, staring at me, imploring me to interact and teach him something. Everywhere he goes, the first thing people notice about him is his tail, not just because I have left the feathering on it, but because it is wagging – non-stop, all the time – no matter what he is doing. He has never met anyone, human or canine, that he didn’t like.
Graham earned his Senior Hunter in five straight tests, and then achieved his Master Hunter as a two year old, and to date has 10 MH legs. He has the distinction of being the first of all spaniel breeds from the Southeast to earn an MH.
He passed his TD on his first attempt.
On the way to his CH he received a four-point BOB win over group winning / BIS specials. Graham was the first Springer to earn both a CH and an MH and as far as we have been able to find, the first field-show cross ESS to earn a CH. All points came from the Bred-By class. He won the Shooting class at the 2004 National and the Field class in 2007.
He titled in Novice Agility and Novice Agility Jumpers by double Oing at the CESSCGA Trial. Her learned his weaves by retrieving a bumper through them – always a bird dog!
He also received the Breeder’s cup and the Triple Crown awards at the 2007 National Specialty. He passed his FC/AFC Water Certification Test and made it through several callbacks at field trials. He also obtained International Breed and UKC Dock Diving titles. And he just keeps amazing me, getting his CD by winning Highest Scoring ESS both days at CESSCGA’s All-breed Obedience Trials, and at the CSSCGA Specialty shows in January 2009 was HS ESS with a Hunting/Field Title and HS ESS Breed Champion of Record both days. He has also furthered his agility and rally careers by finishing his NF, OA, AXJ and RA titles.
I’ve yet to find something Graham won’t do, but his highest calling is being my best friend. Hummm, I wonder what else he has in store for me.
